Lighting isn’t just an aesthetic element of a bedroom, it is also a very functional element within the space. In my opinion, the most important thing about the bedroom has always been the darkness. We usually spend the darkest parts of our days in this space, so we want it to be as dark as possible. However, aside from this, I have come to realise that lighting is as important as the dark.
A bedroom should be a tranquil and peaceful retreat, but it also needs to be functional. When it comes to designing a bedroom lighting needs to be judged accurately, as the ideal lighting design/fixtures can help you to carry out everyday mundane tasks i.e. getting ready in the morning, as well as winding down for the evening – with ease and comfort. So, lighting up one’s bedroom is every bit as important as lighting up the Kitchen or the Living Room.
Two factors to take away;
Think about your choice of lamps…
There are a lot of opinions surrounding the topic of, which type of lamp works best within the bedroom. We all want a cool-white light to help us get dressed on a winter’s morning, but our needs become different when we are heading off to bed. So choose a lamp that emits an orange, pink or red tone, consider the mood and atmosphere you want to create by choosing the right colour temp.
Be a bit more adventurous with your choice of light fixtures…
When it comes to bedroom lighting, a lot of the time we find ourselves buying cheap and plain, mainly because we just want something quick and that will go with a variety of decors we have going on. However, the bedroom might be the one place within the house you can afford to go with something that is more unusual and extravagant. After all, whatever fixture you choose, it will become the main feature of the room, which you won’t have to explain to your future guests.
Overall, whatever lighting design you choose, whether it is a table or floor lamp for task lighting, a pendant or wall light to create accent lighting, or spotlights to create ambient lighting, we at National Lighting have got you covered for all your late-night reading needs.
